SLCC Stockholder,

As you may have seen recently through social media or news outlets, the State Water Resource Control Board (SWRCB) is planning to implement new unimpaired flow objectives for the San Joaquin River Tributaries (Merced, Tuolumne and Stanislaus rivers).  The SWRCB has noticed a public meeting for August 21st and 22nd, where it will consider adoption of these new unimpaired flow objectives.  Simply put, the new objectives will result in less water for irrigated agriculture and has been labeled a “water grab”.

The Company will be submitting comments to the SWRCB, and is actively engaged on your behalf.  We are coordinating with other Water Districts, Water Authorities and other Agencies throughout the State in actively expressing a unified message of opposition.  The Company also encourages you, the stockholders, to submit comments.  Comments can be submitted electronically by following the hyperlink: swrcb.farmwater.orgAlternatively, hard copies can be mailed.  A template is provided for your use in mailing, and please and feel free to cut and paste the text from the letter into the electronic comment box.

I apologize for the short notice, but comments are due tomorrow, July 27th by Noon.

State Water Resources Control Board Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan Phase One

The State Water Resources Control Board will be receiving comments on Appendix K of Phase One of their Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan until this Friday, July 27, 2018. Annually, Phase One alone will cost local economies $1.6 billion, thousands of jobs, and result in more than 1.8 million acre-feet of lost surface storage and lost opportunities to recharge hundreds of thousands of acre-feet of water.

The Email provides two ways for our growers to comments. Either 1) click on the Farmwater link below and follow instruction or, 2) use the attached Word file to develop a personal letter to the Board.

Thank you. Your help is always appreciated.
